The Reverend Doctor Ronald W. Jones was ordained on August 23, 1970 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Westfield, NJ.

His pastoral vocation to share the Gospel message has called him to serve in three different capacities: as pastor of individual churches; as pastor, professor and administrative official on college campuses; and as chaplain in the Texas Army National Guard and, later, in the United States Army Reserve. In addition, he has been writing articles and editorials and making presentations that reflect upon Christian faith and life.

In the field of college administration, teaching and ministry, Pastor Jones has served at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, and college campuses in Austin, TX; Lubbock, TX; Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; and Bronxville, NY.

As military chaplain, Pastor Jones served in the Texas Army National Guard from 1980 to 1985 and in the United States Army Reserve from 1985 until his retirement in 2005 with the rank of Colonel. Among his awards and decorations are the Legion of Merit, the Meritous Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal.

Pastor Jones has been called upon frequently to make presentations and to conduct Bible studies at conferences and conventions held by the Atlantic, Texas, SELC and New Jersey Districts, LCMS; and Scholars Forum at Concordia, Edmonton. He served as lead instructor in seven Army workshops in the Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program component of Building Strong and Ready Families, four of which were done after his retirement from the military.

We at St. Paul have been very fortunate to have Pastor Jones and his family with us since 2002. On Sunday mornings we know the sermon will always be tied to the scripture readings for the day and will always be on point. We leave worship knowing that we have clearly heard God's Word and the Gospel message!
Reverend Jones has faithfully served our congregation for the past 10 years.
